About Joy Speech Therapy

Joy Speech Therapy is owned by Erika Liechty, a fully certified speech pathologist licensed to practice in Michigan and California. Erika takes a holistic approach to speech therapy and has received post-graduate training in evidence-based approaches that support childhood development for speech, language and feeding.

Erika graduated from Calvin University and has been practicing speech pathology for over 9 years, treating patients in outpatient centers, hospitals, and schools. She also spent two years as the clinic director of Hope Speaks in Uganda, while training new clinicians and treating children and adults.

Erika has completed extensive continuing education studies in many areas, such as Neuro-sensori-motor and Reflex Integration, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), Talk Tools approach to speech and feeding, Myofunctional Therapy, and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing for Apraxia of Speech. She also completed a certification course in lactation consulting, and is working towards becoming an IBCLC (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant). Through these many therapy approaches, she is dedicated to providing individualized and family-centered care for every client.
