FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

Joy Speech Therapy is now in network with BCBS PPO!

Can I still get coverage if I don’t have BCBS?

If you don’t have BCBS, you may still qualify for reimbursement from your insurance provider, although it is not guaranteed.

Joy Speech Therapy provides superbills for all services provided that you may submit to your insurance to seek reimbursement. To obtain reimbursement from insurance using a superbill, you must first ensure that the services received are covered under your insurance plan for an out-of-network provider. Once the services are rendered, the superbill will be generated for you, which itemizes the services provided along with corresponding diagnostic and procedure codes. Then, you will be able to submit this superbill along with any required documentation, such as receipts or proof of payment, to the insurance company for reimbursement according to what is provided under your specific plan.

Where are services offered?

Services are offered in the comfort of the family’s home or online through teletherapy.  The current service areas for in-home therapy include Rochester Hills and the surrounding communities in both Oakland and Macomb County.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

The duration of speech therapy varies greatly depending on the individual's needs, goals, and progress. For some, a relatively short period of therapy may be sufficient to address specific speech or language concerns, such as articulation difficulties or myofunctional disorders. Others may require more extended therapy to address complex communication challenges, such as stuttering, language disorders, or childhood apraxia of speech. Additionally, the frequency and intensity of therapy sessions can impact the overall duration of treatment. Ultimately, the goal of speech therapy is to help each child achieve their maximum communication potential, and the length of time spent in therapy will be determined by ongoing assessment of their progress and goals.

How do I know if teletherapy is a good option for my child?

Determining if your child is a good candidate for speech therapy via telehealth involves a variety of factors. Important things to consider are your child's ability to engage and attend for an extended period of time, as well as the severity and nature of your child's speech or language concerns. If their needs can be effectively addressed through virtual platforms, such as articulation practice, narrative language, or myofunctional therapy exercises, teletherapy may be a viable option. Ultimately, you’ll want to consult with the SLP about the specific needs of your child and decide together what will best support your goals.
